About College Park
College Park, Georgia, a city of 20,000 residents, has taken the lead as a progressive city with the future in mind. College Park is the first Georgia city to provide Green power from their electric utility, College Park Power, and the city recently opened Georgia's largest public and commercial Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fueling facility.

The city owns and operates the world-class Georgia International Convention Center (GICC) which will be connected to Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and the Consolidated Rental Car Facility (CONRAC) via an Automated People Mover (APM) system. Construction for the APM is scheduled to be completed in November 2009. The world's busiest airport Hartsfield-Jackson is located within the city limits which makes College Park a prime location for aviation related developments.

College Park has over 30 hotels located within its city limits. Recently, the city broke ground on a Marriott headquarters hotel and a Spring Hill Suites hotel located at the GICC. In addition, two hotels are currently under construction; Cambria Suites will be located on Best Road and Hotel Indigo on Harvard Avenue in downtown College Park.

College Park's superior bond rating (AA-) supports major residential mixed-use and commercial projects. The City is designated as a Main Street community by the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

As growth continues College Park's elected officials and staff are committed to maintaining the historic significance and charm of this beautiful city. College Park is the home of Woodward Academy, the nation's largest private school. In addition, several companies are based in this innovative community. These include Chick-fil-A's corporate headquarters, Air Tran Airways, Alteon Flight Safety Training Facility, Sysco Foods, Coca-Cola Bottling Company, and the Federal Aviation Administration.

SCORE honors Atlanta SCORE as the National SCORE Chapter of the Year. Atlanta SCORE earned this award for exceptional growth in the services provided to local entrepreneurs, the success of its public outreach, and excellent client satisfaction. Visit Atlanta SCORE online at www.scoreatlanta.org.

Chapter Chair Steve Bloom and Atlanta SCORE were honored by SCORE and the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) during Small Business Week 2008 in Washington, D.C. This is the second time Atlanta SCORE has won this honor. They were previously recognized as chapter of the year in 1995.

Atlanta SCORE provided 11,962 services through counseling and workshops last year—an increase of 50 percent over the year before. The chapter has grown substantially the past several years with ten branch locations in counties and towns in the Atlanta metro region. Last year, the chapter installed Web video cameras in each Atlanta SCORE office, which allows volunteers to provide face-to-face counseling to clients in more distant areas.

In addition, the chapter recently hosted a highly successful speed coaching event, sponsored by OPEN from American Express, that “sold out” in 36 hours. Hundreds of local businesses received free evaluation and mentoring sessions with Atlanta SCORE counselors. They also participated in interactive workshops that focused on promoting business growth
