Objective
Course I is an introduction to
what you need to know to develop a successful international
import/export operation. The course focuses on:

Identify the necessary qualities and personal traits required for
starting an import/export business.

Outline
the steps required to assess the market for your products and
services.

Identify the right markets for your products (either sourcing or
selling).

Develop
entry strategies for the markets chosen.

Introduce those areas of trading that are uniquely international
(for example, tariffs, freight forwarding, etc.

This course is designed for
individuals seeking to learn more about their ability to operate as
“middlemen” in international trading, i.e. as reps, agents, and
distributors.

Assessing your strengths and
weaknesses as a potential trader.

Addressing the value-added
components of your business.

Importing. Addressing team building,
basic terminology, identifying sources, negotiation with
suppliers, finding US buyers, and entering products into the U.S.

Exporting. Building your team,
product selection, the language of trading, regulatory issues,
identifying suppliers and buyers, negotiating with suppliers and
buyers, entering product into foreign markets.
